Nadine Hinton-Davis, Membership Chair

Nadine Hinton-Davis

Nadine Hinton Davis is a fulltime K-12 Art teacher for the Devereux Foundation. She has been teaching art or making art for many years. Let’s just say, when she started teaching, there was no such thing as Digital Art. Nadine loves teaching art but what you may be surprised to learn is that although she holds a Master degree in Fine Art, her second passion is history. Specifically, Black History and the struggle of African Americans and other people of color in the Americas since the “end” of slavery. Ms. Davis is her school’s unofficial Black (American) History coordinator. From November (Native American Heritage Month) through February (Black History Month) she coordinates art, games, movies, and music, lectures and any way she can devise to insert as much knowledge about the history of people of color in this country into the minds of the young people she has been charged to educate.

How does this qualify her to be chairperson of the Membership Committee of this branch of the NAACP? She believes that in encouraging more people to unite in the fight to end racial inequality is the job she’s been called to do. She said that “my career in teaching has helped me to be able to communicate to others how and why their membership in the NAACP is so very important”

“So contact me. I’ve got something to teach you!”
